SA Clock
This clock was inspired by the hourglass. A timekeeping method used for over a thousand years. Even today, it remains a powerful symbol of time: elegant, minimal, and universally understood.
There’s something quietly poetic about watching grains fall. A soft, continuous motion that makes time visible. It doesn’t tick or flash — it flows. A gentle reminder that time moves forward.
At OHX design, this project began with a simple question: how can we reimagine that timeless simplicity in a modern form? How can we create an object that captures both the beauty and meaning of time passing?
I used salt, which flows with a soft rustling sound—more delicate than sand and surprisingly soothing. There’s something intimate about hearing time, not just seeing it. The downside is that salt is less precise due to its irregular grain size. Yet that imperfection feels fitting. After all, time is rarely experienced with exact precision.
The first working prototype is complete. The concept is alive. Next comes refinement: improving the mechanism, exploring materials, and developing the final design.
